The age of technology takes off. A Fortune 5 plucks you out of a pilot program at the university. And, you step into the corporate engineering world.  

It was rough back then, just as it is now, to attract the talented in science and math into a technical path - especially women.

You waste no time ...

Make friends with the company library - lunch, after hours, before the workday starts - devouring mountains of books, walls and walls of manuals, video's, CD's ... anything promising - to teach whatever you need - to make you better faster.

You're Green as Grass

Nobody tells you:

You don't know ...

Do it your way -

Get a promotion a year later. Now you're in a league with serious techies. They take you under their wing. Teach you discipline - to harness your curiosity, insatiable appetite and penchant for getting things done inside the world of bits and bytes. 

One mentors you -

Shows you ...

But -

Nobody's prepared for the undercurrent of spirituality taking root. How some are open to new ways-of-compromise; others never would be. And, the crosshairs - no one knew how to navigate - raising their ugly head already then.

Time Passes

New opportunities call you - 2,500 miles away - to the opposite side of the country. You move on.

The Internet takes hold.

Google matures ...

Until one day, your insatiable curiosity just wants to have a look-see: Whatever happened to that Gentle-Giant way back when?

The one you struggled beside - as you scratched your heads:

You were fearless then -

Warriors slogging through uncharted territory. Trudging through what - you didn't know - was supposed to be impossible.

But -

Nothing prepares you for his obituary staring back at you.

Nothing.
